About Akagera National Park

Talk of wildlife safaris or tours involving game drive and boat cruise for purposes of spotting wild animals, Akagera National Park is the only destination in Rwanda where such activities take place. The park together with Nyungwe and the Volcanoes National Park combined offer amazing holiday safari experiences in Rwanda. The park is a home to numerous massive plains animal species plus those categories endemic to papyrus swamps. Such animals include the Sitatunga, elephants, buffaloes, topi, zebras, water-bucks, roan antelope plus eland among others. Others in the antelope family entail the duiker, bohor reed buck, oribi, bush buck,  klipspringer and impala. From a primates perspective, the park is a habitat for olive baboons, vervets and the calm blue monkey commonly spotted during day times whereas bush babies are seen in darkness during night drives.
