4 Days Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari

Experience the beauty and wildlife of Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most iconic protected areas. This safari combines game drives, boat cruises, chimp trekking, cultural encounters, and visits to unique sites like the Ishasha sector and Kyambura Gorge. You’ll also have the chance to see tree-climbing lions, hippos, elephants, and a rich diversity of birds and mammals, making it an unforgettable adventure for wildlife enthusiasts.

Day 1: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park (1978 sq. km) in western Uganda. Stop at the Uganda Equator for a photo opportunity, then continue to Mbarara Town for lunch. As you enter the park, enjoy scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains, crater lakes, and the rift valley, while spotting animals along the roadside.

In the evening, embark on a game drive, where you may see tree-climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes, kob, bushbucks, waterbucks, warthogs, and leopards. Check in at Mweya Safari Lodge or the Institute of Ecology, where you can enjoy dinner with views of the Kazinga Channel and Lake Edward Peninsula.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Kyambura Gorge, and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Start your day with a cup of African tea before heading to Kyambura Gorge for a chimpanzee trekking experience. Along the way, observe wildlife such as buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda kobs, and numerous bird species. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species, offering incredible wildlife diversity.

Afterward, visit Katunguru Trading Centre to experience local culture and watch traditional performances by various ethnic groups. Return to Mweya Safari Lodge for lunch and refreshments.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you can see hippos, buffaloes, and abundant birdlife, including pied kingfishers and pelicans. Optional activities include guided forest walks in Maramagambo Forest, visiting the bat cave inhabited by pythons, exploring crater lakes, and spotting primates such as chimpanzees. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Return to Kampala

Wake up early for a morning game drive starting around 6:30 am, when predators like lions and leopards are active, and herbivores graze along the savannah. Look out for elephants, lions, spotted hyenas, leopards, and hippos during this prime wildlife viewing time.

After a late breakfast at Mweya Safari Lodge, begin the drive back to Kampala via Kasese-Fort Portal Road, stopping along the way as needed. Arrive in Kampala in the evening for dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on the exciting experiences of your safari.

Day 4: Airport Transfer

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver for transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Queen Elizabeth National Park adventure.
