Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
You will be picked up from your location in Entebbe or Kampala and transferred to Entebbe Airport for a charter or scheduled flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The flight takes approximately one hour, offering spectacular aerial views of Uganda’s rolling hills and forests. Upon arrival, a driver will transfer you to your lodge for rest and relaxation. You may choose to take a community walk to meet locals and experience traditional African dances. Enjoy lunch at the lodge and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure. Dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany Springs Lodge, Silverback Lodge, or Buhoma Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park
After breakfast, drive to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) headquarters for a briefing on gorilla tracking. The trek into the forest can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, observing their behavior in their natural habitat—an experience that is both humbling and awe-inspiring. Along the trek, keep an eye out for forest birds such as the Short-tailed Warbler, Rusty-faced Woodland Warbler, Bar-tailed Trogon, and Gruer’s Rush Warbler. Other wildlife you may encounter includes black-fronted duikers, South African porcupines, golden monkeys, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, buffaloes, elephants, jackals, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and even chimpanzees. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to the Airstrip and Fly Back to Entebbe
After breakfast, you will be driven to the airstrip for your connecting flight back to Entebbe Airport. Upon arrival in Entebbe, you may either continue with onward travel or be transferred to your hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight. This marks the conclusion of your unforgettable Bwindi gorilla trekking adventure.
